Car history: |
Bill Buck Chevrolet is presenting one of Mr. Buck's personal collection. It was the 1968 Representative in the Historic Corvette Motorama. First, this car is a 68 Convertible with the 327 cubic inch V8, 4 speed transmission. It is finished in the correct code 986 Silverstone Paint. The interior is black and the trim tag is calling for "Gunmetal" Vinyl interior. I am not familiar with that color, so I would imagine it's probably not correct. The odometer currently shows 61,401 miles. The paint and body are beautiful. It has a high rise hood that I believe is the L-88 style and not correct for the car but looks nice with the body color side pipes. It's a personal touch that really sets the car apart. It does also have side exhaust that sounds fantastic. Under the hood is a correct casting number 327 V8 3914678 and the pad has been stamped with the 327/350 HP suffix and correct VIN number, but it is not the original block for this car! Mr. Buck searched for some time to find this correct block for the car. There has been aftermarket Air Conditioning added. It's a professional installation that works great and looks clean, but again is not correct in originality. The tires are like new Redline Radials on Rally Wheels. The car is not stock under the hood and sports a high rise intake manifold and carbuerator, ceramic coated headers and some other extras. The chassis is driver quality. Most of the suspension has been replaced and the car drives tight and straight. Mr. Buck wanted to be sure that the car drives right as he planned on driving it on the Motorama and the car performed flawlessly. That is the short version on this car. It's not correct, but is an outstanding driving 68 that is unique and will only go up in value with time. Mr. Buck is selling it to make room for some new additions to the collection and because he has too many cars to drive them regularly as they need to be. He wants this car to go to a good home where it will be enjoyed! 61,401 miles. April 15, 2008. |
